Now Available: Network Equipment Category Intake Screens Open to Participating Manufacturers and CABs
The Global Electronics Council (GEC) is pleased to announce that the intake screens for the Network Equipment Category are now available on the EPEAT Registry.
Beginning May 3, 2021, Participating Manufacturers can begin working with their Conformity Assurance Bodies (CABs) to register their network equipment.
Participating Manufacturers are encouraged to contact EPEAT@GlobalElectronicsCouncil.org for more information on participation and to schedule an individualized demo session of the new intake screens.
Products covered by the new EPEAT Network Equipment category include switches and routers for data centers and other enterprise applications, as well as customer-premise routers.
The new Network Equipment criteria address the life cycle impacts of equipment, from raw material extraction to component and product manufacturing and end of life, across four sustainability impact areas:
- Climate change mitigation
- Reduction of chemicals of concern
- Sustainable use of resources, or circularity
- Corporate environment, social and governance performance
GEC expects the Network Equipment Category to be available on the public-facing EPEAT Registry in Summer 2021.
Purchasers interested in specifying or buying EPEAT-registered Network Equipment should also contact EPEAT@GlobalElectronicsCouncil.org for information on getting started.
